Hug a Tree Program

The Hug a Tree program teaches young children what to do if they get lost in the wilderness. It was developed as a result of a 9 year old boy who got lost during a family camping trip. Visit the National Search and Rescue website for resources and more information.

Salida Youth in Action students (preschool paired with middle school) took a field trip to our Search and Rescue Bay and sar members acted out the Hug a Tree coloring book. Students also had hands-on time with OHV's and Big Wheel. It was a great time for all.
