Chaffee County Search and Rescue South
Wilderness Medical Protocol 

 

This manual is intended outline the Standards of Emergency Medical Care for the personnel of Chaffee County Search and Rescue South, as a means of determining the level of care to be administered in any given situation.

Advanced procedures, such as the administration of medications and invasive techniques, require advanced training.


Each individual within Chaffee County Search and Rescue South is responsible for the following:
• Performing to the Standard of Care for his/her level of certification
• Maintaining current certification
• Participating in continuing education

These protocols are a guideline and are unable to account for every patient condition, patient presentation, and situation. Deviation from these protocols should be done only with the patient’s best interest in mind and backed with sound clinical judgment. Any deviation should be thoroughly documented and submitted for review. If questions arise concerning a patient’s condition or treatment modalities, contact with the Base Physician should be initiated without hesitation.

Step 1-  Please review the medical protocols that pertain to your level of certification. 

Step 2 - Fill out  the attached PDF and certify you have read Chaffee County Search and Rescue South's Medical Protocols. Please bring this signed confirmation document to the October 9th training and give to Member Coordinator.
