The SAR pack needs to be mission ready for a 24 hour period. This means you keep your pack in a state of readiness and can function in the backcountry in all weather elements for 24 hour period.

While each member's pack is very personal, SAR has minimum requirements for safety. 
 

SAR Packs are a constant work-in-progress.  Contents can adjust due to weather, season, mission type. Practice carrying your sar pack. In most cases your sar pack will be heavier than your day recreational pack. Keep the SAR Pack List available for a quick check list.

Note: Members may move items in and out of a pack for personal use vs mission use. It's easy to forget something, we've all done it. If you are in the field and you realize you don't have something that you need, ask for assistance. Never put yourself in jeopardy.
